The Penn State ice cream is pretty good tasting. I was expecting it to have more natural ingredients. I have had different locally made ice cream which is better and more natural than commercially processed ice cream. I thought this would be similar. Unfortunately it is not. They used to sell a quart for $7 or $8 dollars and I would get one occasionally for my kids. Now they will only sell pints for $5. I really don't think it is worth the extra cost. I won't be returning.

Get Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream year round. Many flavors. Unlike Berkey on campus, you can get scoops of more than one kind in one order. It is very fresh just as if you were in Happy Valley!

I brought a little league team after a game. The place was already crowded because it was a nice evening in North East.Eleven children ordered their ice cream at the same time. On the surface, it looked chaotic. The person taking the orders was calm, collected, and very friendly. What's more... She was 100% accurate in taking the orders.One by one, the ice cream was handed out to each wide eyed, smiling (dare I say drooling) baseball player. Every order was filled correctly and accurately... All the while the staff maintained friendly and professional smiles. My wife and I were amazed at the speed in which the orders came up, too.Excellent experience!

Had the best experience here! Amazing variety of ice cream and all the staff was extremely friendly and patient!! Would definitely recommend to any one in the area to stop in, we will be back soon!

Nice place to enjoy ice cream throughout the year. Penn State Creamery flavors are available. I prefer to support local businesses instead of chains and will return.

Not your basic ice cream stand. They have soft serve, dole whip, and several hard scoop lines including Penn State Berkey Creamery. We tried a couple different flavors of the Penn State ice cream. It was awesome! Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Peach Paterno and Chocolate to Die For--both were delicious. From out of town and had it both nights we were here! Highly recommended. A very popular place so you may have to wait in line outside, but oh so worth it!

What perfect end to a perfect evening after watching the awesome sunset at Halli Reid Park.They had the nicest dish for our three Golden Retrievers.I highly recommend the red raspberry sundae, nothing compares. fast friendly servers. Straw Hat is a must stop whenever I visit North East, PA. Love little private owned place like this. Delicious ice cream. Always a source of employment for the local kids.

A friend told me about this place since he's from the area and I am vacationing. This little ice cream shop sells both Perry's ice cream (I'm not familiar) and Penn State ice cream. There was only a couple flavors that interest me... Peach and coconut chip. I went with the coconut chip ice cream, both from Penn State. It is delicious, has so much chips. They offer free small soft serve ice cream with a Milkbone to dogs. I have 2 little ones but only asked for one that they can share. The free doggie size ice cream is so cute! My pups love it and they are very finicky. The young lady working there was helpful and sweet. I got a cup with 1 scoop and it is plenty for me.

I hope the owners see this post.....The group of young kids working last night were outstanding. They were challenged with long lines, and pretty picky customers.....I think the one group was vegan, soy, lactose intollerant....and they still took the time to find that customer a solution. It was busy, they weren't rattled, very polite. Ice cream was outstanding! Nice job !!

The straw hat Sundae shop is located in Northeast, PA. On a summer evening plan on waiting in line. They have Perry's ice cream and Penn State creamery. They also have dog bowls free of charge. The ice cream is delicious and the dog bowl was appreciated! Would highly recommend. The straw hat Sundae shop is worth the trip.

My kids love going there. They always have a good time picking out what flavor to have. Lots of variety and only place I have had cannoli Ice cream. Has become my favorite flavor and I get it every time.

This little roadside ice cream shop has a lot of flavors of hard pack, hand dipped ice cream, about half of which are from Penn State creamery. With outside tables and benches and lots of parking, it was a great place to take the kids (my grandson loved his Super Heroes flavored ice cream).
